How Much Poppy Money Goes To Charity
Our collectors have been at the heart of the Poppy Appeal for 100 years.
Last year collectors were unable to carry out face to face collections, but this year they are returning to local communities. In our centenary year, 40,000 collectors across the country will be back on the streets raising funds for the Poppy Appeal.
Every poppy counts, so look out for your local collector and donate to help us raise vital funds to support the Armed Forces community.
We will be offering several ways to donate, including:
- Cash
- Contactless terminals in some locations
- QR code
Download your poppy poster
You can also support the Poppy Appeal by donating via text or online. When you make a donation online, we'll include a link in your confirmation email to download an A4 poster featuring the iconic Remembrance Poppy. You can print and display your poster at home to show your support and remember those who have served and sacrificed.
There are a number of other ways you can get involved in this year's Poppy Appeal. From taking part in our 11/11 Challenge or ordering Poppies in the Post, to buying poppy merchandise from our Poppy Shop, there really is something for everyone.
Find your local collector
Look out for volunteers in your local community who will be collecting donations for the Poppy Appeal at shopping centres, markets and city centres across the country.
You can also get your poppy whilst shopping in-store or online at Sainsburys, who have been supporting the Poppy Appeal for over 25 years, or shop their range of poppy merchandise, also available in selected stores and online.
Many of the UK's other major supermarkets will also be helping us by distributing poppies in stores, including Tesco, Morrisons, ASDA and Waitrose. Morrisons customers can donate at the till as well as online.
What we're remembering this year
In 2021 we are marking 100 years since the nation's collective Remembrance traditions were first bought together, such as the poppy, two-minute silence, Armistice Day, the service for the Unknown Warrior, and the march-past at the Cenotaph.

Our collectors
This year our collectors are back in local communities across the country. From all regions, walks of life and corners of the UK, meet some of those helping to raise vital funds for the Poppy Appeal.

Is my poppy recyclable?
The most effective way to recycle our poppy is to return it to your local Sainsbury's store after Remembrance Sunday.
Alternatively, the paper and plastic components that make up our poppy can be pulled apart and recycled through some local authority household recycling methods.
You could also wear an enamel poppy pin instead of a paper poppy, and there are a range of alternatives available from our Poppy Shop. You can then choose to make a donation to the Poppy Appeal every year.
We are committed to reducing the amount of single use plastic associated with our Poppy Appeal products. We have already implemented changes that will remove over 8 million items of single use plastic from our 2021 products and will continue to look at ways to further reduce the environmental impact of our Poppy Appeal products.
